Los Angeles Clippers were able to gain some ground in the Western Conference to improve their rank in the playoff race, despite Coach Rivers knowing that it is still too early for making much of this win.
Shamet of the Clippers led the Clippers in the fourth quarter when he scored 8 of his 20 points while Lou Williams completed his two free throws with only 7.9 seconds left to the game to defeat the Kings by 116-109 on Friday night.
Other players from Clippers side like Danilo Gallinari scored 19 points with 9 rebounds, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 15 points and Ivica Zubac scored 10 points with 10 rebounds. All of them helped Clippers to complete a season sweep of the Kings on which both teams had their playoffs hopes upon.
Shamet said, “That was an important game for us for sure. At this point in the season, you are paying attention towards the playoff standings and where other teams are. You don’t need to look far ahead as they are right with us. Definitely, the playoff race adds to the motivation.”
The win was not at all easy for the Clippers as Kings trimmed the 13 point deficit to mere 110-107 with pony 1:16 minutes to the clock, much helped by back to back dunks from Barnes and Stein.
However, in the end, Clipper came out victorious who have now won all of their 9 straight games against the Sacramento Kings which also includes all four games against Kings this season.
Sacramento Kings were led by Buddy Hield who scored 23 points while De’Aaron Fox added in his 12 points with 12 assists and Willie Cauley-Stein scored 16 points with 12 rebounds.
Up next, LA Clipper will host a game against the New York Knicks on Sunday while Sacramento Kings will host a game against the New York Knicks on Monday night.
