The men’s basketball team of Virginia is not going to celebrate their big national Championship against Texan Tech at the White House.
The Virginia Cavaliers, who won the NCCA championship earlier this month, cites logistical issues for not attending White House as most players are either planning to finish the college while others are preparing for the NBA draft. The school turned down the invitation of White House on Friday.
Tony Bennett, Virginia’s coach stated, “we have received inquiries about a visit to the White House. It is going to be difficult for us as lots of students are pursuing pro opportunities with other moving on from UVA. In light of these issues, we would need to respectfully decline the invitation of the White House.”
Three-star players of Virginia; Kyle Gury, DeAndre Hunter and Ty Jerome have confirmed that they are going to enter the draft of 2019.
This decision of Virginia Cavaliers means that the three champions of the NCAA’s Men’s basketball who have won the titles are not going to visit the White House.
As for Baylor’s women’s basketball team, they announced on Wednesday that they are accepting the visitation invite to recognize their championship. Their ceremony will be held on Monday next week.
