On Sunday, the US Women’s soccer team played a match against the Mexico team in a tune-up before they head to France for competing in the Women’s World Cup. The Women’s World Cup is set to start on next month.
While the US Women’s team was able to win the friendly match against the Mexican team by 3-0, the headline of the night was something entirely else.
Peter DuPre, a 96 years old World War II veteran was called out on to the center of the Red Bull Arena located in Harrison, New Jersey for his performance of harmonica on which he played the National Anthem.
The further news about this veteran was later provided to various media sources by USMNT that this veteran was known by the nickname of Harmonica Pete and that he has been giving his harmonica performances for many years now.
Peter DuPre, during his time in World War II, served at the 114th General Hospital located in Kidderminster, England where he served as a Medic. When DuPre was 17 years old, both of his parents had already died making him the patriarch of his family of five. After a year of losing his parents, Peter enlisted in the army and served three years abroad where he treated countless servicemen that were shipped across from all across Europe.
We have only one thing to say about his harmonica national anthem performance, which is shown in the video down below; “Well done, harmonica Pete”.
