In the game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final between Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues, Bruins made a 4-2 comeback victory on Monday night. The victory was made possible by the game plan that had been once successful back in 1950.
Even when Bruins were trailing behind by 2-0, they did not panic instead they were relentless. Despite Torey Krug, the defenseman of Bruins losing his helmet, he delivered to Robert Thomas an old school Original Six-Style hit during the 3rd period of the game.
Talking about the moment, David Pastrnak said, “He got a haircut a few days ago so he 2was looking very good.”
As both for the teams were playing with their greatest performance of the seasons, it was hard to tell the difference as to which team had greater momentum than the other.
Still, with this win, Bruins are the team that is going into the Game 2 with a win when it will be played in Boston on Wednesday.
Bruins have now a perfect 32 postseason wins in a row in which they outscored their opponents by 32-11.
David Perron, Blues’ winger said, “I think we can even be better and we need to be.”
Connor Clifton, the defenseman of Bruins who scored the first goal for the team said, “We were not perfect but we were not expectant to be perfect. We still pushed them back hard.”
Bruins were able to win this game based on first an empty netter from Brad Marchand and then the 2 goals from Clifton and Charlie McAvoy. As for the game-winning goal, it was scored by Sean Kuraly.
Craig Berube, St. Louis Blues’ coach said, “they used every one, all of their 6 D. they might be a good team but we are a good team as well.”
The helmetless hit from Krug was also a motivator for the Bruins.
