The Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finale Series was played between Boston Bruins and St Louis Blues on Wednesday which Blues won by 3-2 in the overtime.
Bruins, in this game, had to play most of it without their star defenseman Matt Grzelcyk who got injured early on the 1st period of the game after he got a brutal hit from behind.
He had to be taken to the hospital immediately for medical evaluation and Bruins had no immediate response to his health.
The player who hit him was Oskar Sundqvist on the Blues who will undergo a hearing with Department of Player Safety at NHL.
Grzelcyk was trying to stop the puck behind the Boston nets near the boards when he started losing his balance as Sundqvist came from behind.
As a result of this hit, Grzelcyk’s head was lamed into the glass and as he fell to the ice, he grabbed hold of his head and stayed there as Blues and Bruins had a scuffle.
Grzelcyk was then checked by a trainer and was helped to leave the ice.
Following Grzelcyk being ousted of the game, Bruins had to play the rest of the game with only 5 defensemen and later by only 4 defensemen after Connor Clifton got a four-minute penalty for making high sticking.
