The dead body of the MMA referee Chris Reed has been recovered by the local authorities after he fell off his boat in the Galveston Bay last Friday.
According to the US Coast Guard, the body of Chris Reed was pulled by a search crew from the waters of Houston Ship Channel earlier on Sunday morning that concluded a 40-hour long search.
The 50 years old Reed who was also a Kemah, Texas Police Chief and worked as an MMA referee went missing since 4 pm on Friday afternoon. Authorities said that he was thrown overboard without a life jacket after a passing large wave from a passing shipping vessel struck his boat. Reed was on the boat with his wife who remained on it and did not get injured.
According to Coast Guard, nearly dozen of local, federal and state agencies searched the 650 square miles of Galveston Bay area before his body was found nearly 1 and a half miles north of Texas by a boat crew.
Reed was also a professional MMA fighter with a professional record of 5-2 in the lightweight division. His last fight was back on March 1st, 2013 at the Legacy FC 18 which he won by a knockout.
Following his last fight, he became an MMA referee and officiated about 200 fights that include 4 in the UFC.
