The dream doubles team of Serena Williams and Andy Murray were unfortunate enough to be knocked out of the doubles competition at the Wimbledon against the top-seeded pair of the competition; Bruno Soares and Nicole Melichar during their Wednesday match.
In a match that was played at Court Two, the winning duo defeated their openness by 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2 to make it to their 3rd Grand Slam doubles semifinals of the 2019 season.
Murray said, “I thought they played really well and played quite a bit together. They were really solid as a team. As compared to them I and Williams are a little bit up and down.
They were more consistent than us. Bruno had a bad service game at the 5-4 in the 2nd set. Expect that little moment; we were not getting any points for free. We were made to work for every game. They really deserve this win.”
Soares has previously played with Murray’s older brother Jaime Murray to win two Grand Slam doubles tournaments. In his pairing with Melichar, he was pretty solid. Melichar has previously won the Wimbledon’s Double title of 2018 with Alexander Peya.
With this win, Soares and will now move in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon’s mixed doubles.
