In the thriller final of the ICC Cricket World Cup, England was led by Ben Stokes who scored 84 runs for not out and Jofra Archer kept his nerves calmed down to have England win over New Zealand for the first time on the count even after the Super over at the Lord’s.
Stokes with his 84 runs for not out off of 98 deliveries was the ray of hope for England as he saw his team tie the game for the chase of 241 runs and all of it despite English team in need of 15 runs off of their final four bowls of the allotted 50 overs.
In the super over of the game, Stokes and Jos Butler were able to score 15 runs on deliveries by Trent Boult as both batsmen struck boundaries.
Despite Jimmy Neesham scoring a 6 on delivery from Jofra Archer on the 2nd delivery of the Super Over, The black hats could only obtain 1 run of the need 2 runs from the last bowl on their way to equaling score once more with England.
Kiwis only lost the world cup on the rule that they struck fewer boundaries as compared to England.
With this win, England now completed their spectacular World Cup campaign, having been dumped in the group stage of the last World Cup; with a win for one of the greatest ever cricket match that has ever been played at Lord’s.
