The fight between Anthony Fowler VS Brian Rose ended with a point’s decision victory for Fowler who called for a rematch against Scoot Fitzgerald.
The Liverpudlian’s previously unbeaten record was smudged with a defeat from Fitzgerald back in their March fight but he was able to have a more controlled performance in this fight that gained him scores of 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93 from the judges.
In his post-fight interview, Fowler said, that he wants a rematch with Fitzgerald after he makes it through his British title fight against Ted Cheeseman.
He said, “I hope that Scott beats Cheeseman because I believe that Scott is a better fighter and it would be my dream come true to fight Scott at the end of the year. I do not care where the fight is held.”
From the opening bell, Fowler did not show any hesitation as he took charge at Rose’s body aggressively who also replied back with his right-hand punch in the first round.
Rose high guard was crushed by Fowler’s shots during the 2nd as he stitched from head to body shots and then delivered shots to his ribs in the 3rd.
Rose’s best weapon was his precise jab which Fowler took care of with his left hand in the 4th and then he knocked his veteran opponent’s balance off with a hook shot in the 5th.
Rose replied with his accurate shots in 6th and 7th as he tried to dominate Fowler.
But the Merseysider fighter shrugged off all of Rose’s attempts during the 8th as he replied back with his hammering hooks.
The 9th round saw Fowler having a nasty injury above his right eye after both fighters clashed their heads. He still managed to wobble Rose with a big right in the last round who also was able to hang on till the end.
