Katy Perry is all set for her big performance before and after the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup which will be held on International Women’s Day. Katy Perry is being called in an effort from the organizers of the event to set a world record attendance.
Katy Perry will be performing live on Sunday the March 8th at the venue of Melbourne Cricket Ground in what is expected to be the biggest cricket match of women’s cricket history.
The tournament will be starting on Friday, February 20th, 2020 in the Australian city of Sydney where the hosts and also the defending champion Australia will face the Indian team.
The organizers from ICC say that they aim to break the world record for the crowd of 90185 at a women’s sports event which was set back in 1999 at the FIFA World Cup final that was held in Pasadena, California.
ICC said in their statement, “This final presents for the cricket a major opportunity to set for a world record crowd attendance at the women’s sporting event on the day when the equality of women and their achievements are celebrated worldwide.
As for Perry, who has previously performed a half-time show at the 2015’s Super Bowl, she said in a statement, “I am all about celebrating the equality and the achievements of females. And this event happens to be held on the International Women’s Day this is no coincidence that I have said yes to performing at the women’s final live on this day.”
