In the latest news about Floyd Mayweather, he has announced that he will be fighting the kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan on New Year’s Eve.
41 years old Mayweather as reportedly signed a deal with the Japanese mix martial arts promotion company “RIZIN Fighting Federation”. Now he is all set to fight withier 20 years old kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
Mayweather, the five time different weights champion has never before fought a mix martial arts match and it is still under discussion about the rule that will take place in a fight held in Saitama.
Mayweather in a press conference held in Tokyo on Monday said, “I wanted to do something different. I wanted to display my skills in a different way ad I wanted it to happen outside of US. I spoke about this with my team and they talked with RIZIN and they made it happen. I fought all of my 50 fights in the US. As a professional fighter, I hadn’t ha e the chance to go outside of US and display my skills to the outside world.”
The fight will be held at the 14th event of RIZIN. Nasukawa previously participated in 4 of the championship’s fight for both MMA and Kickboxing fight and won all four of his fights.
Unlike boxing where one can only use punches; MMA fights allow the use of kicks, knees, and elbow strikes along with wrestling, choking and joint locks.
Mayweather has not fought in the boxing ring since 2017 when he last fought with Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor and defeated him, making his stats to 50-0. The finances details with RIZIN are yet to be disclosed.
