Tony Bellew confirms his retirement whilst saying, Oleksandr Usyk ‘the greatest man I have ever shared a ring with’

Tony Bellew not only announced his retirement from boxing but he also praised his exceptional opponent Oleksandr Usyk after losing to him in the ring on Saturday night.

Bellew lost to Usyk in the 8th round of the challenge in Manchester on Saturday night and afterward, he promised that this is finally the end of his career.

Bellew said about Usyk, “He is definitely an exceptional fighter who deserves all the awards in the word. I lost one of my bets battle in the best way possible. I have no excuses to make, he is an exceptional fighter. He is undoubtedly my greatest opponent with whom I have shared the ring. I only wish him greatness.”

He further stated, “I am a world class fighter. However, our fight was the difference between world class and elite class fighter.”

This is the 16th professional victory for Usyk who has not only won an Olympic Gold Medal but has also won every major belt in the cruiserweight division along with World Boxing Super Series tournament.

With 30-3-1 record, Bellew takes his retirement. He won the WBC Cruiserweight title two years ago at the Goodison Park when he fought with two heavyweight champion David Haye.
