Shields VS Rankin; Claressa Shields one-sided points win over Hannah Rankin, adds WBA middleweight title in her career

Claressa Shields on her Saturday night boozing fight against Hannah Rankin came out victorious with a one-sided points win. With this victory, she adds the WBC World Middleweight title in her glorified career.

Shields; the American sensation was one class above her challenger as she won the Green and gold WBC belt to add in her collection of WBA and IBF belts after gaining unanimous 100-90 points decision from all three judges.

Shields has not only won the double Olympic Gold Medals but has also won the two-weight world titles in paid ranks as she sits in the same category as Katie Taylor on the list of world’s most outstanding female fighters.

Taylor holds the tow lightweight titles but Shields views herself as the best in the world and as ruled out any chance of fighting with Katie.

Shedding light on her decision of ruling out a fight with Katie Taylor she said, “I can only go on up to 154lbs, at 147lbs, I would look like a stick. I am clearly above average. I am the greatest woman of all time. It is up to them to like it or not. There is no girl who can beat me.”

Shields under the coaching of David Johnson Jackson displayed her sharp jabs and rapid combinations to set the tone of the fight from the very first round. A combination of quadruple jab followed by a right hook placed Rankin in a terrible spot during the second round. The third and second round saw the same combinations to rattle Rankin.

Scottish challenger tried her best to take control of the match in the fifth and sixth round but Shields’ accuracy and timing took the better of Rankin.

Rankin held pout at her best until ninth round but Shields closed that difference with a barrage of close punches in the 10th round. Rankin did her best to last until the end but in the end, it was Shields win.
