Doug Williams the Washington Redskins senior vice president of player personnel, described to media the nature of Reuben Foster’s domestic violence charges with words like ‘small potatoes’ as he defended his team’s actions to claim the controversial linebacker, after he was released by San Francisco 49ers this week, off weavers.
Williams also said that he was aware that the team will be heavily criticized for claiming Reuben after he was released by 49ers and got arrested on Saturday night.
He said, “We have got many people who are in very high, high, high places and have done far worse than this. If you look up to this bar realistically, they are still in the league”.
He further added to his statement, “this is ‘small potatoes’ compared to things done out there. However, it is still a huge issue in America today. Whether it is in football, in everyday life, in politics; wherever it is, it is out there”.
Foster was arrested in Tampa on Saturday night prior to h49ers game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the meantime, Foster is also on the commissioner’s exemption list meaning that he will not be able to play in NFL until he gets his disciplinary hearing.
