The biggest upset of the Australian Open has been pulled off by the American player Francis Tiafoe as eh defeat the fifth seed Kevin Anderson in the second round.
Twenty years old Tiafoe is amongst the top cream of the American talent that has come through the tournament and he managed to reach the third round of the grand slam for the second time in his career after he defeats Kevin Anderson by 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and 7-5.
The fifth seed Anderson ho was defeated by Kyle Edmund last season in the opening round, was not feeling well on the court as he called out his trainer during the third set.
Word rank no. 39 Tiafoe will now move into the third round at Melbourne Park for the very first time in his career will next play the veteran Italian player Andreas Seppi.
Tiafoe who is going to celebrate his 21st birthday on Sunday said to media, “it means a whole world to me. I lost to him three times last year. When I was down a set and a break, it looked as if it would happen once again. I dug deep and went to a deeper place.”
On the other hand, Marin Cilic the sixth seed and the last year’s Australian Open runner up managed to gain a difficult win over his American opponent Mackenzie McDonald by 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 and 6-4.
As for the Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas, he won over his Serbian opponent Viktor Troicki by 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 and 7-5 to move into the third round of the tournament.
