Australian Open; Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina continue progress at the tournament

Naomi Osaka, the US Open champion of 2018 and the winner of the WTA Finals, Elina Svitolina both managed to advance into the third round of the Australian Open.

Osaka who was forced to work hard during the second set against her opponent Tamara Zidansek during the second round match of the Australian Open still won the match by 6-2 and 6-4.

Osaka will now next face the tricky opponent, Hsieh Su-Wei who managed to cruise into the third round after defeating Stefanie Voegele and Laura Siegemund.

On the other hand the sixth seed of the tournament, Elina Svitolina also managed to win her second round match at the Australian Open as she defeated her opponent Viktoria Kuzmova at the Rod Laver Arena by 6-4 and 6-1.

She said, “I was trying to be really light on my feet and be quick. I think this was the key to my success tonight.”

As for the seventh seed Czech player Karolina Pliskova, she also managed to win her second-round match at Melbourne Park after she defeated the American opponent Madison Brengle by 4-6, 6-1 and 6-0 in three straight sets.

Other popular seeded players who have advanced into the third round of the Australian Open are Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, Anastasia Sevastova and Camila Giorgi.
