Australian Open; Roger Federer crushes Taylor Fritz to continue his march

Defending champion Roger Federer has won his 100th match on the Rod Laver Arena as she defeated the American opponent Taylor Fritz during their third round match of the Australian Open on Friday.

Federer put up an amazing match for the audience as he set up his fourth-round clash against the Greek Super Star Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Taylor Fritz pushed Federer in the second set but Federer managed to win the match by 6-2 7-5 6-2 after he scored a succession of highlight-reel shots in which he hit 43 winners in 88 minutes.

Federer talking about the match said, “I think he played really well there and I also played well. I thought it was a really high-quality tennis match. This is a different type of match and it being the best of five and being the fourth round of the Slam”.

37 years old Swiss player will now move to the fourth round of the tournament for the 63rd time in his career where he will face the 20 years old Tsitsipas for the second time.

Tsitsipas who is one of the energetic young players of the tournament gained his third round win against Nikoloz Basilashvili by 6-3 3-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-4.

On the other hand, the resurging Tomas Berdych has also made it through to the last 16 for his eight title bid in nine years after gaining the victory over 18th seed Diego Schwartzman by 5-7 6-3 7-5 6-4.
