Terry Rozier of the Boston Celtics scored 22 of his 26 points in h first half for Boston Celtics in their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He led the Celtics for their fifth straight win by 123-120 over the struggling Cavs on Wednesday night.
Boston Celtics are now looking for a showdown against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night at the TD Garden.
Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens said, “We have a great test on Saturday and we will learn more about us. We are still not where we want to be at this point in the season.”
Other players from Celtics’ side like Jaylen Brown scored 23 points; Gordon Hayward scored 18 points while Jayson Tatum scored 15 points for the Celtics win which is their 10th straight victory at home this season.
Rozier who was starting in place of the ill Kyrie Irving added 8 rebounds and 6 assists along with shooting 6 for 6 as he scored 16 points in the first quarter. He made two shots only in the second quarter both of which were 3 pointers and one was a 31 feet buzzer beater to give the Boston Celtics a lead of 65-50 in the first half.
Rozier said that he got a text from Irving in the morning that he will be starting in his place so he was mentally prepared.
As for the Cavs, they were led by Cedi Osman who scored his career high of 25 points along with 8 rebounds while Ante Zizic was the second high scorer of the Cavs with his 19 points with 8 rebounds.
Cavs were missing on their star veteran players like Kevin Love due to left foot surgery, Larry Nance Jr. due to his sprained right knee, and Tristan Thompson due to his sore left foot.
Up next Cleveland Cavaliers will host a game against the Miami Heat on Friday while Boson Celtics will host a game against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night for a nationally televised match.
