Aldridge and White lead Spurs to beat Hawks by 111-104

LaMarcus Aldridge and Derrick White both were fantastic to give the San Antonio Spurs with a punch.

Aldridge led Spurs with his 32 points while White made one great play one after another to help the Spurs defeat Atlanta Hawks by 111-104 on Wednesday night. This was the fourth consecutive win for the San Antonio Spurs.

Gregg Popovich; Spurs coach said, “L.A. and Derrick were special tonight.” With this win, Spurs have now gripped their fingers on the last spot of the playoffs.

White said, “I was only just trying to make the right play tonight.”

White, the second year guard of Spurs, scored 18 points with 9 assists and his career-high 6 blocks. He also tied with franchise’s record of rejections by a guard.

Aldridge talking about White said, “Man, 6 blocks. I don’t know if I ever had that many blocks. It is kind of impressive. He just ran the offense and made the right leads. I don’t feel surprised by him anymore. I have been his fan since day one.”

As for the Hawks, they were led by Trae Young, who scored 24 points. Hawks were hampered in their tracks with loss of Taurean Prince who got ejected out of the game with 7:28 left to the third quarter.

Atlanta’s Kent Bazemore said, “if we had a little more time in second half, this would have been a totally different ballgame. We had to shorten our bench a little bit.”

John Collins who scored 18 points with 10 rebounds was making his first return after missing out three games due to flu symptoms.

Up next, San Antonio Spurs will be ending their road trip to return home. There they will be hosting a game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the current Eastern Conference leaders, on Sunday night.

As for Atlanta Hawks, they will host a game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night.
