Amanda Anisimova makes it to the last eight of the Silicon Valley Classic

Amanda Anisimova, the American teenage tennis player has made it to the 5th quarterfinals of a tournament in this season with her latest being the quarterfinals of the Mudabala Silicon Valley Classic held in San Jose.

Amanda Anisimova, who earlier in the season defeated Simona Halep to make it the semifinals of the French Open, is enjoying her best season on the hard courts.

17 years old tennis star is currently at her career-best world ranking of no. 23. She made it to the quarterfinals of the Silicon Valley Classic after defeating her fellow American player Madison Brengle by 6-2 and 6-2.

This is the fifth time that she has made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament that is played in front of her home crowd.

Next, she is going to play against Chinese player Zheng Saisai who earlier defeated the 8th seeded player Danielle Collins by 6-2 and 6-0.

In other matches of the day, Donna Vekic made into the quarterfinals after defeating Victoria Azarenka by 6-4 and 6-4.

Vekic herself is the 5th seed of the tournament in San Jose. After her match, she said, “I just tried to stay in the rallies and made the game a little more physical. I was able to stay in the game and get some rhythm.”

As for Carla Suárez Navarro, she made into the quarterfinal by defeating Bethanie Mattek-Sands by 3-6 6-1 and 6-1 to set a quarterfinal to match against Aryna Sabalenka.

In the meet up with the Spanish player, Sabalenka has defeated her two times in the previous hard court’s tournament matches of the last season.

The last qualifier of the San Jose tournament was Elina Svitolina who will now face the last year’s runner up of the tournament, Maria Sakkari.

Svitolina gained her 6-3, 6-1 victory over Daria Kasatkina while Sakkari defeated Mayo Hibi by 4-6, 6-4, and 6-2.
