Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee bucks shook off the All-Star break hangover rather early.
Antetokounmpo scored 30 points, 12 of which were scored in the fourth quarter and with Khris Middleton’s 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the game, helped the NBA leading Bucks to defeat the Boston Celtics by 98-97 on Thursday night.
On second to the last position, Marcus Smart from Celtics side forced a jump ball with Antetokounmpo but Antetokounmpo bounced that ball off to Brook Lopez who deflected it toward the basket but missed the chance for a shot clock.
Referees huddled during the timeout and allowed 3.5 seconds for the Celtics.
Smart, with the ball in hand towered over it to Kyrie Irving who had Eric Bledsoe draped all over him. Irving stumbled as he tried to make an awkward hot and missed it as time expired. With this, Bucks won the season series by 2-1 which is their first win over the Celtics since the season of 2014-2015.
Antetokounmpo also had 13 rebounds while Middleton scored 15 points and his season-high 13 rebounds and Malcolm Brogdon added in his 15 points for the Bucks. With this win, Bucks have won 15 of their last 16 games as they improve on the season by 44-14.
Celtics were led by Kyrie Irving who scored 22 points while Horford added in his 21 points with his season-high 17 rebounds for the team and Jayson Tatum added in his 17 points with 10 rebounds.
