Carmelo Anthony as able to put on a display of a great game just like his teammate Hassan Whiteside did for the Trail Blazers in their game against the Chicago Bulls.
Anthony scored 23 points along with 11 rebounds to not only hand Trail Blazers their 107-103 victory but also had his double-double of the game. This was the 3rd straight win for the Trail Blazers playing against the Chicago Bull this week. However, it was Whiteside in the previous game with his 8 points, franchise-record 10 blocks and 15 rebounds to steal the thunder from Trail Blazers team. This was the most blocks by any NBA team player in this season.
Anthony said of Whiteside’s performance, “I have never seen that in a game before and I have played in the past with some great blockers. Tyson Chandler was a great best blocker so was Marcus Camby. But I have never seen a guy like Whiteside who had 10 blocks in a game.”
The charge for the Trail Blazers was led by Damian Lillard, who scored 28 points which includes 10 points during the last quarter as Trail Blazers were able to win their 3 games in a row after suffering from 4-game losing skid.
By the third quarter, Trail Blazers were in lead by 12 points but by the 4th quarter, Bulls had a lead of 85-84. Then CJ McCollum from Blazers’ side scored a 3-pointer to give the lead back to Portland.
Chicago Bulls were led in this game by LaVine who scored 28 points as they lost their 7th game in the last 9 games.
LaVine said, “This was a frustrating loss as this game was winnable. We were battling hard. Dame did all he could in the 4th, he turned the game up another level.”
Up next for Chicago Bulls is the wrap of their road games as they play the last one against Sacramento Kings on this Monday.
As for the Trail Blazers, they will first visit Los Angeles to have a game against the Clippers on Tuesday and then return back to play home-game against the Sacramento Kings.
