Now there is one more title in the long list of the achievements that Ashleigh Barty enjoyed this year and this time it is the WTA Player of the Year 2019.
The Australian player Ashleigh Barty was announced last Wednesday as the winner for the year-end top award for the category of the Women’s Professional Tennis Tour. She was awarded this title after finishing as the world rank no. 1 for the singles ranking as well as winning her career’s first grand slam event at this year’s French Open.
In total, Ashleigh Barty has won 4 tournaments and she is also the 2nd player of the season to make it to the 2nd week at all 4 of the major championships held this season. Ashleigh Barty also led the tour with a record 57 match wins.
As for Barty’s coach named Craig Tyzzer, he was honored with the title of WTA coach of the Year.
As for the other winners of the voting made by media members include Bianca Andreescu; the winner of US Open for the title of Top Newcomer, Sofia Kenin for the title of Most Improved player, Belinda Bencic for the best comeback player, and Timea Babos and her partner Kristina Mladenovic for the title of being the best Doubles Tem of the Year.
