Atletico beat Eibar by 1-0 after late goal to win the Spanish league

Atletico Madrid managed to win over Eibar by 1-0 to win the Spanish league as they moved up six points over Barcelona.

The inner was scored by Thomas Lemar in the 85th minute of the game before the game between Barcelona and Real Sociedad which was later played on Saturday.

With this win, Atletico is 7 points ahead of the 3rd place Real Madrid who are going to host a game against the Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Atletico has not finished this great since the 1990-91 season.

They got a win over Eibar despite playing without their forwards Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa, who are both fired. Costa is serving the 8-game suspension after insulting a game official during the teams win against Barcelona two weeks ago.

Ipurua Stadium struggled hard to take control of the match as they lost many chances to score a goal. It was not until Jorge Koke broke free and sent Lemar a perfect cross who scored from close range in the post.

Koke said, “It was really difficult to play here. We are very happy that we won the match. We got ourselves 3 points and we are going to fight until the end.”

This was Atletico’s 4th win in their last 5 matches.  Their only loss was against Barcelona when teams played 2 weeks ago at Camp Nou Stadium.

As for Eibar, who has only won 1 of their last 7 matches now stand at the 13th place in the 20 teams after playing 33 games.
