Alexander Zverev has made his winning streak from five to six by winning his opening match at the ATP Finals in London. He won over his opponent Marin Cilic by 7-6, and 7-6 in a match which was very tough for both German and Croatian player.
With this win, Zverev moves top into the Group Guga Kuerten on Monday.
Zverev initially had a rough start at the court when he was a 3-0. He vented off his frustration by sapping down his racket.
Zverev had been struggling with the shoulder injury since European Indoor Season but he managed to level things at 5-5. In the tie-break set, Cilic made an inauspicious start but after 65 minutes, Zverev managed to wrap up the match.
This was the seventh meeting of these two rivals in the past three years. In the second set, they both traded shot before things again ended in a tie-break.
Afterward, Zverev took control of the match and claimed his victory.
Afterward, Zverev said to media, “I am happy as to how I played and I am happy I am built from here”.
