ATP Finals in London; Marin Cilic claims first three-set win against John Isner

Marin Cilic has managed to win for the second time by defeating Jon Inser at the ATP Finals.

Cilic defeated Jon Isner on Wednesday night to place himself in the knockout stage of the year ending the tournament. Cilic gained his victory by 6-7, 6-3 and 6-4.

Cilic managed to gain the emotional upper hand over Isner who recently learned about the death of his best friend and coach Kyle Morgan.

The American player came out of his last robin round match on the court while wearing trainers with initials “KM” written over them.

Cilic lost his rhythm and as for Isner, he was paying surprisingly a controlled tennis. The match went in for a tie-break.

Cilic managed to wrap up the things with a vital break in the 8th game. With this, the last year’s Wimbledon runner-up managed to gain his win.

Cilic said to media after his match, “the first set was extremely tough as Isner played a great tie-break. I had to remain focused and patient to play really great tennis in the second and third set. I was pleased with my game tonight.”
