Alexander Zverev made an answer to the doubts of his fitness to the audience after he easily managed to defeat his first round opponent Aljaz Bedene at the Australian Open.
In the last season, Zverev fished the season with high as he defeated Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic back to back to win his title at the ATP Finals. However, he was making an appearance at the Australian Open with a nursing hamstring injury and afterward he also rolled his ankle during practice.
During his opening set against Bedene, he briefly breaks down but he managed to maintain his form and from there on he took the charge of the match and won it by 6-4, 6-1 and 6-4.
21 years old Zverev said to media, “I have had about 86 injuries and the ankle is still swollen but I have one everything right in my preparation. Now I either play well or I don’t”.
On the other hand the eight seed Kei Nishikori seemed to be in quite a danger against his opponent Kamil Majchrzak after he lost two opening sets.
However in the third set Pole suffered from cramps early and called it a day after trailing the match by 3-6, 6-7, 6-0 and 3-0.
As odor the 15th seed Russian player Daniil Medvedev’s match, he easily won it in three sets while 12th seed Italian player Fabio Fogini ended his match in a win against his Spanish opponent Jaume Munar.
