Australian Open; Kyle Edmund doubtful for tournament due to knee injury

British no. 1 player Kyle Edmund’s appearance in the Australian Open seems doubtful as he has picked up a knee injury. He said that he will do everything he can to be fit for the tournament.

23 years old Edmund, who is currently ranked world no. 14 has withdrawn himself from Sydney International that is going to happen next week. Sydney International would also have been the tournament which would serve as a warm-up for the upcoming Grand lam Event in Melbourne.

Edmund said, “I am disappointed that I won’t be able to return to Sydney. I need to focus on my preparation for the Australian Open. I need to do everything to be fit for this first Grand Slam of the year.”

In the 2018’s Australian Open, Edmund reached the semi-finals where he lost to Marin Cilic in straight sets. Lately, Edmund has also suffered defeat against the Jana’s Yasutaka Uchiyama at the Brisbane International second round on Wednesday.

Australian Open will start on January 14th.
