Australian Open; Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Roberto Bautista Agut to reach the semi-finals

Stefanos Tsitsipas has now become the youngest player ever to have made it into the last four of the Australian Open in last 16 years after he defeated his quarterfinals opponent Robert Bautista Agut.

The Greek star who was entering this match following his win over Roger Federer overcame the Spanish player Bautista Agut by 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-6 to reach his maiden Grand Slam semi-final.

The match had been tough for Stefanos Tsitsipas at some points but he ended it in three hours and 15 minutes.

The 20 years old under the blazing sun of Rod Laver Arena got bested in the first and third set before he came out strong in the fourth set to close the match with his booming serves.

After Bautista Agut’s final serve fell into the net, Stefanos Tsitsipas fell on the court as he now looks forward to a clash against either Novak Djokovic or Frances Tiafoe on Thursday.

With this win, Stefanos Tsitsipas has become the youngest player in Melbourne’s history to have reached the semi-finals, as the last was back in 2003 when Andy Roddick manage to achieve this mark or Novak Djokovic, he also went into the semi-finals of US Open back in 2007.

Talking about his game, Stefanos Tsitsipas said, “It almost feels like a fairytale. I am just living the derma, living what I have worked for. I feel a little emotional but not too much because I know what I did to get here.”
