Baker Mayfield, QB of Browns ends the interview by saying ‘Dumbest question you could ask’ to a reporter

Baker Mayfield, the B of the NFL team Cleveland Browns ended his news conference held on Wednesday night in an angry manner following getting frustrated over a reporter’s question.

The question from a reporter was made only 7 minutes into the news conference and most of it was about the sequence that revolved around the end of the first half of the Cleveland Browns VS New England Patriots game that ended in 27-13 loss for the Browns. The name of the reporter was Tony Grossi who works with 850 ESPN stationed in Cleveland.  He asked Mayfield about what he perceived as the lack of urgency on the 2-minute drive before the halftime.

Mayfield answered, “There was a penalty so we were in the negative yardage.”

But Grossi then continued, “No, but there was a lot of time in between the snaps.”

To is Mayfield said, “Well when the penalty happened, then we were behind the chains. No, no, no — stop saying ‘but.’ I just told you, the clock was running and we had a penalty. Do you want to give them the ball back? No. You don’t play. You don’t know it. That’s just plain and simple.”

Grossi concluded his questions with Mayfield by asking if he was happy with that drive which ultimately ended in the team’s own territory.

Mayfield said, “Was I happy with the drive? No. We didn’t score points. That’s the dumbest question you could ask. What? Jesus, Tony.”

Later on the day after the news conference, Mayfield took it to twitter to address his abrupt and frustrating exit. He wrote as follow,

“Everybody wants to hear the truth until they actually get it…. I am who I am and always have been. Don’t call it emotional when it’s convenient and then passion when it fits. I care about winning, so yeah I’m frustrated. If I was to act like it’s okay to lose, then y’all would.”
