CJ McCollum provided his team, the Portland Trail Blazers with a steady hand as they fought their back into winning the semi-finals of the Western Conference series. McCollum led the Trail Blazers with his 20 points as they won over the Denver Nuggets by 97-90 in the Game 2 of the second round playoff series held on Wednesday night.
Blazers had an early lead in the game but then they had to hold off the late rally from the Nuggets to ultimately even the series at 1-1.
Denver Nuggets seem like they were out for blood as they closed in on the deficit but McCollum’s 3-pointer with 4 minutes into the game proved helpful for the team as they managed to clinch the game.
McCollum said in an interview, “I was just trying to be aggressive. I was coming short in the first half but I was getting wherever I wanted to go on the court.”
The defeat in this game could have been really disastrous for the Trail Blazers but with the thing being as they are now, they have gained the home court advantage as the game will be heading to Pacific Northwest on Friday for Game 3.
As for the Damian Lillard, the night was slow as he only managed to score 14 points. As for Enes Kanter, who was acquired right after the horrific leg injury of Jusuf Nurkic, he was the hero for the Terry Stott’s men with his 15 points and 9 rebounds.
McCollum said of other players like Rodney Hood, who scored 15 points while Zach Collins who scored 10 points; “They were really great tonight. When they are involved in defense they play better defensively and they brought that game out tonight. We are going to need that all the way through this series.”
As for Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, he led the team with his 16 points along with 14 rebounds.
