The shots are once again falling right for Damien Lillard.
Lillard took the lead of the Portland Trail Blazers as he finished with his 32 points, 17 of which were made in the 3rd quarter to win over the Denver Nuggets by 119-108 on the Thursday night game 6 of the Western Conference semis. With this win, both teams are now even in the series with 3-3 as they now will compete for the finals’ spot in the Game 7.
Lillard had been a little quite during the team’s last two games which ended in both losses.
Lillard said, “I think over the course of this series, especially after Game 1, I could see the ball go in as consistently in the basket as it should. My job in the team is to remain aggressive and do what I do best. And tonight finally the shots went my way.”
The series finale will now be played in Denver where the Denver Nuggets will have the chance to win the game and the series to make it into the finals of the Western Conference for the first time since 2009. Denver only has been able to make it to the Conference finals for 3 times in the team’s history.
Whoever wins the series will face the winner of the Golden State Warriors VS Houston Rockets series. Currently the two-time defending NBA champions, Warriors have a 3-2 lead on the series with the latest victory being earned on Wednesday night by 104-99. The game 6 between the two teams will be played in Houston on Friday night.
As for Portland Trail Blazers, who have not advanced to the finals of the Conference since 2000, CJ McCollum was heir second top score with 30 points while Rodney Hood came off the bench to score his own playoff high of 25 points.
From Nuggets’ side, Nikola Jokic added in his 29 points along with 12 rebounds while Jamal Murray scored 24 points with 10 rebounds.
