Brisbane International tournament; Andy Murray wins on return to action

Andy Murray has made a successful comeback to the professional tennis as he won by 6-3 and 6-4 over his opponent James Duckworth at the Brisbane International Tournament.

Murray had to end his 2018’s season early in the year after he suffered pain in his hip which was followed by surgery, ruling him out from three of the 2018’s Grand Slam events.

31 years old absence has resulted in his ranking to drop down at 240 and is currently unseeded in Brisbane. Talking about his hip pain, he said that he is still feeling pain but is in better pace than he was 12 months ago.

Murray said, “I was nervous at first but as the match progressed I felt I was moving well.  It is not easy, to sum up, my condition in one sentence of one answer as it had been really hard 18 months for me. There had been lots of ups and downs. It has been tricky just to get back on the court. So, yeah, I am clearly happy to be back on the court again. I want to try and enjoy it as much as possible. I do not know as to how much longer it will last but we will see”.

Murray knew about the problem he had back in January at Brisbane last year for which he was informed to undergo surgery. His first problem, however, surfaced back in the summer of 2017.

He had been spending the last six months working with a reconditioning specialist in Philadelphia.

As an unseeded player, he is having it tough in Brisbane for the draw. Now he will face the Russian fourth seed player Daniil Medvedev who is currently ranked no. 16 in the world; in round two of the Brisbane International Tournament.
