Jimmy Butler was the start of the night for the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night as he helped the team snap their long losing streak against the Toronto Raptors. The thing that makes him more of a star is that he brought the Sixers to the semifinal series of the Eastern Conference.
Butler led the 76ers with his 30 points along with 11 rebounds while James Ennis scored 13 points as 76ers won over the Toronto Raptors by 94-89 on Monday night. With this win, the semifinal series between two teams is now tied at 1-1.
Butler said, “Everyone wants to paint the picture no matter the thing that we have not won here in many years. I am glad that we managed to come up on top. We don’t care as to how many games we lost, nothing like that.”
In the 4th quarter, Butler scored 12 points as he withstood a late rally from the Raptors.
Brett Brown said, “He was just a tremendous rock. He willed us all to a lot of different situations. He was a stud.”
Raptors were down by 16 in the first half but they managed to cut that deficit to mere one point in the 3rd quarter only to go slow in the 4th quarter as they missed 6 of their first 7 shots.
Joel Embidd led the Toronto Raptors with his 12 points in the 32 minutes gameplay despite feeling not too well with his flu-like symptoms. According to Coach Brown, Embidd received an intravenous fluid shot moments before the game.
Brown said, “Full credit of the game till the end goes to Embidd.”
Embidd, who was feeling rough, still refused to sit down in the game.
He said, “There was no way I was missing the game. This game was very important to us. It does not matter what I had, I was still going to play.”
Game 3 of the second round series will be played in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
