Bayern Munich is still struggling to score a goal in their matches, much less win a game against Liverpool.
In Bayern Munich’s fourth visit to Anfield for the Champion League’s first leg match against Liverpool on Tuesday, the night for German went without a goal. The match between Bayern Munich and Liverpool ended at 0-0 draw.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said, “It is not an ideal result for a game but it is the one that we can work with. It is not a game that we will remember for the next 20 years but it is the result we got tonight.”
As for another match of the night, the match between Lyon and Barcelona also ended without a score at a draw.
As for Liverpool, with them not letting Bayern Munich score a goal, they are now at a slight advantage as they move ahead into the Leg Two of the Champion League’s round 16.
Bayern winger Serge Gnabry said, “We needed to take the pressure off their front three as we know they are the counterattacking team. For us, it was important to not let them keep the ball in midfield and to not let them break through.”
Liverpool almost gave a goal to Bayern when Joe Matip diverted the ball carelessly to Serge Gnarby’s side from close range to the goal. The ball luckily bounced off goalkeeper Alisson Becker to safety.
As for Liverpool themselves, they lost their chance at goal attempts when Mohamed Salah headed a wide passed from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s delivery and Sadio Mane shot turned wide on the turn.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson said, “We had enough chances tonight. I feel this especially for the first half that we had the chance to score one or two goals.”
Lewandowski said, “That was a very difficult game for us.”
