Chauncey Billups says LeBron James might win the NBA MVP award in his first season for Lakers

Chauncey Billups has tipped that LeBron James might win the fifth NBA MVP award for this season and his first season with Lakers.

33 years old LeBron James won his last NBA MVP award back in 2013. He has recently left the Cleveland Cavaliers to joining the famed Lakers to help them restore back to their former glory.

James has helped his hometown team Cavaliers to win the NBA Championships of 2016 and this time Billups thinks that it is the right time for him to take a fresh challenge.

Billups who is the 2004 Finals MVP when he won the NBA Championship with Detroit Pistons; when asked about James’s move to Lakers he said, “I love it. He did all he could in Cleveland. He has already brought them championship that he always wanted to do. His move to one of the storied NBA teams like Lakers is a lifestyle change. So I am really happy for LeBron.”

Lakers who have own previously 16 titles have been absent form the play offs since 2013 after crashing out in first round. Billups says that LeBron’s move to Lakers can help this franchise to regain its former glory.

Billups said to media, “In my onion, LeBron is going to be the MVP this year. I think that he is relay going for it. In my opinion this is what he wants and this is going to change the trajectory of Lakers for a long time. They are going to become a great team and he is going to get great numbers. I strongly think that LeBron is going to be the MVP this year.”

At h moment, James has four MVP awards to his name from 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013’s championships. The fifth award can level him with players like Michael Jordan and Bill Russell. The record is still held by Kareem Abdul Jabbar who is the all time leader with six MVP awards to his name.
