Cesar Azpilicueta, the Chelsea defender apologized to Chelsea fans after the 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City.
Cesar Azpilicueta says that the 6-0 thumping at hands of the Manchester City was “One of the worst nights of his career”.
Azpilicueta, who was the captain for the Chelsea conceded the penalty that allowed the City to have their fifth goal.
Azpilicueta has previously led Chelsea for the two of the heaviest Premier League defeats in the last two weeks. With these consecutive league defeats, the head coach Maurizio Sarri is now under a lot of pressure.
Azpilicueta told at Chelsea’s official website, “I am finding it difficult to describe my feelings after losing the game. This is one of the worst nights o my career. It is very frustrating and disappointing. When a team loses by 6-0, everyone has to accept that they did not play well at all. We made errors which you should not make in big games like this.”
He further said, “When the last time we won against them in Stamford Bridge, it was because we played a very good game all together. But, this time it was not the case. The only thing that I can currently say to Chelsea fans is Sorry. It is not acceptable and I feel sorry for all of them”.
The Chelsea club has now dropped two places over this weekend after their thrashing in Manchester. While Chelsea is being thrashed for losses, Arsenal at Huddersfield and Manchester United at Fulham are both recording their victories.
Up next, Chelsea will face Manchester United for the fifth round match of the FA Cup on Monday.
But before playing that, Chelsea will go to Sweden on Thursday as they look to score a match for the first time in 2019 as they play against Malmo for the first match of the Europa League last-32 tie.
