Chris Eubank Jr gets stoppage victory following shoulder injury of Matt Korobov

The fight for the title of WBA ‘interim’ middleweight belt held on Saturday night between Chris Eubank Jr and Matt Korobov ended in a stoppage loss for Korobov after he injured his right shoulder. The fight was held in Brooklyn city.

Chris Eubank Jr, the 30 years old American moved a division above him to be able to fight against Korobov but their fight got cut short only 34 seconds into the 2nd round after Korobov appeared to have suffered from a dislocated shoulder after he threw a punch at Chris Eubank Jr at the venue of Barclays Center.

Grabbing onto his shoulder in pain, Korobov walked away from Eubank Jr and then signaled his team and the referee that he is unable to continue the fight. This ended the fight for a technical stoppage win for Chris Eubank Jr.

In the past, Korobov has suffered stoppage losses to Andy Lee for the WBPO Title fight back in 2014 but this time he was able to showcase his skills from the opening rounds. He jolted his southpaw opponent’s head with left hands.

As for Chris Eubank Jr., he was hoping that this victory could lead to a showdown against Jermall Charlo who has defended his title of WBC middleweight belt by defeating Dennis Hogan.

The best US debut for Eubank Jr is the points’ win of him over his opponent in February fight, James DeGale, in a fight held at The O2.
