Things were going really bad for Coco Gauff at her second-round match of Australian Open against Sorana Cirstea.
The double faults kept on coming along with deficits but Coco Gauff held her ground to beat the world rank no. 74 Sorana Cirstea and then she forced the third set to win by the margin of mere 2 points.
None of it matters anymore as the Coco Gauff has shown over and over again that she is not any 15 years old player. She was able to win her match of Australia Open against Sorana Cirstea by 4-6, 6-3 and 7-5 in 2 hours to set a Grand Slam match against the former world rank no. 1 Naomi Osaka.
Gauff, who had defeated Venus Williams in their first radon match of Austrian Open, said, “I know what to expect. I am really excited to have a good match.”
As for the men’s singles of Australian Open, Novak Djokovic was able to win over wild card Japanese player Tatsuma Ito by 6-1, 6-04 and 6-2. As for other high profile names of the tournament to have won their matches include Ashleigh Barty, Petra Kvitova, and Naomi Osaka.
Osaka managed to let go of her frustration during which she kicked a tennis ball and threw her racket off the court to make a comeback to win over Zheng Saisai by 6-2 and 6-4.
Osaka said, “I mean my racket simply flew right pout of my hand. I could not control it. I think this is how dealt with my frustration. It was indeed a bit childish. I want to play only a single match without needing to throw my racket or kicking it. That is all I want.”
Caroline Wozniacki also moved up the tournament with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Dayana Yastremska. Caroline already announced that this will be her farewell tournament before he takes retirement from tennis.
Other female players to have advanced to the 3rd round of Australian Open are Alison Riske, Julia Goerges, and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
