The opposing team only had shame and embarrassment to heir name.
After suffering two years ago at hands of Trinidad and Tobago, US Men’s soccer team finally served their revenge to their nemesis.
Gyasi Zardes took the lead of US as he scored 2 goals early on in the match within 3 minutes while Christian Pulisic added one of his own out of his five-goal tries during the second half of the game to beat the Trinidad and Tobago by 6-0 on Saturday night at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. With this win, US have taken the revenge over them for the nightmarish loss they suffered at their hands back in 2017.
Aaron Long also scored 2 goals for the US team which were his first international goals. One of them was a header while the other one was off the chest and with Paul Arriola scoring another goal; it was 5 goals in total for the US team in 25 minutes. This was the second shutout win for the US team as they now advance to the quarterfinals that will be held on June 30th.
This was the first match between US and Trinidad and Tobago since 2017 when Americans needed the win to qualify for the 2018 World Cup but instead lost by 2-1.
With this embarrassing defeat of Trinidad and Tobago, it has also ended their long streak of 7 appearances at the World Cup in a row.
Zardes said, “Every time we step on the field, we want to make a statement. We are trying to change the view of the world about how they think of the American soccer.”
This is the best win for the Americans since they defeated Honduras by 6-0 back on March 24th, 2017 in the world Cup Qualifier match.
