Conor McGregor gets six-month ban for post-UFC brawl following loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov

Connor McGregor received a six-month ban in addition to the fine of 38095 pounds for his participation the post fight brawl following his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 back in October of last year.

As for the UFC light-weight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, he has been banned for nine months in addition to the fine of 380950 pounds for his role in the brawl at the Las Vegas fight.

After he forced McGregor to tap out, Khabib climbed over the Octagon fence to scuffle with Dillion Danis from McGregor’s corner that caused a brawl to break out.

On the other hand, McGregor himself was caught up in a bust-up with one of Khabib’s team members in the Octagon. Khabib was then escorted out of the octagon and the arena while the crowd threw trash and objects on him.

Both of these suspensions have been backdated to the time when both fighters were handed down their suspensions on the night of bout on October 6th, 2018.

Khabib has a chance to reduce his ban sentence by three months if he participates with Las Vegas Police in an anti-bullying public service announcement.

As for his fine money, that will be taken out of his UFC 229 purse as per agreed upon terms of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

In addition to Khabib, his cousin and the fighter Abubakar Nurmagomedov and another one of the Khabib team-mate, Zubaira Tukhugov have both received a 12 month ban and fine of 19025 pounds each for their parts in the melee.
