Copa America; Guerrero leads a key victory for Peru by 3-1 over Bolivia

Paolo Guerrero, the striker of the team Peru led his team’s crucial 3-1 victory over Bolivia on Tuesday. With this important win, the chances of the Peru team are increased by many folds to advance further into the knockout stage of the Copa America.

Guerrero was able to score 1 goal and had 1 assist to allow his team to recover against their weakened rival; the Bolivian side.

Nearly 25000 of the fans cheered on, most of which were Peruvians to watch this low-quality match in an arena that was filled only at one-third of its capacity.

Surprisingly it was Bolivia who opened the scoreboard with them scoring a goal in the 28th minute after they were awarded a penalty on a video review.

Despite being in possession of the game for more than 60percnet of the time, they were only able to score the goal in the 45th minute with team’s best player; Palo Guerrero.

Guerrero was found by Christian Cueva right in the middle of the Bolivian team’s defense. Guerrero then ran straight past to the goalkeeper of Bolivia Carlos Lampe to drive the ball straight past the goal line.

After that, Peruvians still did not speed up things with few opportunities sliding by. Still, their 2nd goal too came fast and that too was made by Guerrero.

Bolivia missed many chances to score goals later on but the Peruvian goalkeeper Gallese did not squander to defend against any of them.

Finally at the 96th minute of the game, when the game almost seemed concluded, Edison Flores, the substitute striker of the Peru team scored the third goal for the team from the edge of the box in a  counterattack.

Up next, Peru will be hosting a game against Brazil on Saturday in a match held at Arena Corinthians located in Sao Paulo. At the moment, both teams have the same 4 points in Group A but Brazil is ahead on the goals.
