The franchise and career record high of Damien Lillard score were still not high enough to help the Portland Trail Blazers win over the Brooklyn Nets in their first home game for the season.
Lillard added his career-high of 60 points for the Trail Blazers but still team lost by 119-115 against the Brooklyn Nets.
From the Brooklyn Nets’ side, Spencer Dinwiddie was the top scorer with 34 pints whereas Kyrie Irving added in his 33 points to help the team hand out Blazers’ their 4th straight loss.
Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets said, “he got 60 points, but fortunately for us, he would have had needed 65 points to beat us.”
Lillard also set the franchise record for the highest points achieved during a regular game of the NBA season. He shot 19 for 33 from across the field and 7 of them were his 3-pointer shots along with his complete 15 fee shots.
Kenny Atkinson, the coach of Blazer said of Lillard, “We tried the zone and then the box and one and also tried the blitz. We threw everything at him. He was just able to make some really great shots.”
Talking about the team’s defeat despite scoring 60 points, Lillard said, “It is fine. It is what it is. Anytime you set the records, it Is a great thing. I guess, it is still not as fun as losing that very game.”
From the Brooklyn Nets’ side, it was their scored tops scorer Kyrie Irving who helped the team, when they were in the pinch. He scored 9 points during the 4th quarter and helped the team be at 117-112 lead with 18 seconds to the clock.
Up next for Nets is the game against the Phoenix Suns, whereas the Portland Trail Blazers will host the game for the Atlanta Hawks.
