Andrew Wiggins’ leads Minnesota Timberwolves to not only overcome 52 points of D’Angelo Russell’s but also beat Warriors

In the match between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors, Timberwolves needed each point from Andrews Wiggins 40 points to beat the Warriors and their star scorer of the night D’Angelo Russell.

During the regulation time, Wiggins scored the game-tying basket and then the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to outlast the 52 points of Russell to win over the Warriors by 125-119 during the overtime.

Robert Covington, the forward for Minnesota Timberwolves said, “We believe in him. This coaching staff and the whole organization believe in him. Now he is starting to see it too.  He is starting to feel it as well.  He is just going out there and being comfortable.  Not hesitating.”

Minnesota Timberwolves were trailing by 110-106 with only 29 seconds to the clock for the regulation period. However, following 2 free throws from Karl Anthony Towns and the force jumper from Covington helped Wiggins to score his game-tying shot on the drive with 5.6 seconds to the clock. As for the 3-pointer attempt from Russell, he missed it at the buzzer.

During the overtime, Wiggins scored a 3-pointer with only 23 seconds to the clock that helped the Minnesota Timberwolves snap their 2 games losing streak.

Josh Okogie, guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves said, “It feels really good especially knowing that we got the fight. Every game in the league is not going to be like where we just go front running and then start winning from the start.”

Wiggins played a total of 45 minutes in this game and along with is 40 points and 7 assists. In the last 3 games, Wiggins has scored 25, 30 and 40 points respectively.

Ryan Saunders, coach of Minnesota Timberwolves said, “He is hungry.”

Up next, Warriors will play against the Oklahoma City whereas  Timberwolves will host a game against the Denver Nuggets.
