Davies Jr. VS Hughes; Robbie Davies Jr. wins over Joe Hughes and unifies the super-lightweight titles

On Saturday night fight between Robbie Davies Jr. and Joe Hughes, Davies Jr. defeated Hughes to add the European super lightweight title to his already held British Belt with unanimous decision points.

In front of the home crowd, the blood-soaked Liverpudlian man managed to secure 118-110, 115-113, 115-114 scores after fighting the 12 tough rounds at the Liverpool’s M&M Bank Arena.

Hughes, who was fighting with a huge guard, bloodied Davies Jr’s nose in the opening round. Still, Davies Jr. showed his decent footwork skills as he made a nice switch from the orthodox to the southpaw stance and then back when needed.

As the blood flowed down from the nose of Merseysider man and the fight went on, Hughes started to gain confidence an applied pressure on the fight wobbling the man in the 5th round.

However, the 6th round saw Davies Jr. fighting back and stopping his opponent’s attacks. 7th round again saw Davies Jr. working on the front foot behind his fast jabs as he managed to land in some decent body shots and picked up some counters.

After fighting a few close rounds and still switching in between the stances, he began to gain the edge as he landed 2 accurate body shots.

Hughes tried to fight back in the final round, but Davies Jr. made short of him and riled up the crowd with him landing a series of devastating hooks to finish the fight.
