Eliud Kipchoge winner of the London Marathon along with Mo Farah finishing fifth

Eliud Kipchoge, the Kenyan runner with the world record has won the Virgin Money London marathon men’s race. This is his record 4th time to win the marathon along with Britain’s Mo Farah finishing at fifth place.

The 34 years old runner has won the Marathon back in 2015, 2016 and last year. This year he not only won the marathon but also smashed his own record by completing the marathon in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 37 seconds.

Eliud Kipchoge, who previously held the record, won the second fastest time ever in the marathon ahead of Ethiopian runners like Mule Wasihun and Mosinet Geremew.

As for Farah who was bidding to win the Marathon for the first time in his career could not catch up to the amazing performance of Kipchoge.

The preparation of Farah for this marathon was heavily disturbed by the Wednesday’s explosive row which has the former distance runner Haile Gebrselassie involved in an alleged robbery for the hotel which is owned by the retired Ethiopian.

46 years old Gebrselassie replied back to Farah’s allegation with his own astonishing set of allegation in which he claims of “multiple reports of disgrac3ful conduct” by the 4 times Olympic champion along with his friends.

Farah’s team said that this would not affect the runner in any way and him finishing at the fifth place within a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 39 seconds is not a disgrace.

Brigid Kosgei of Kenya improved on her last year’s performance when she finished second but this year she won her 1st ever London marathon.

Brigid Kosgei finished ahead of the defending champion Vivian Cheruiyot along with her fellow Kenyan runner and the 3-time winner of the marathon Mary Keitnay finishing at fifth place.

As for David Weir, running at the Men’s Wheelchair race, it ended with a disappointment as he finished at 5th place while Dan Romanchuk won the race.

As for Women’s wheelchair race, it was won by Swiss Manuela Schar.
