Joel Embiid was stretching his back all night on Wednesday whenever he had a moment’s rest.
Those were the signs of the exhaustion he had to endure on his 40 minutes play on the court.
Embiid scored 33 points and 19 rebounds out of which he scored a pair of four points in the fourth quarter to lead the 76ers’ win against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night by 122-120.
Coach Brett Brown said, “He felt the responsibility to play. He is getting older and starting to feel the weight of responsibility. He now understands his role in all of this, the growth of all this and the ownership of all this.”
Spurs had a chance to win as Philadelphia had a shot-clock violation. However, DeMar DeRozan’s shot was blocked by Wilson Chandler.
Brown said, “I think, maybe Wilson was the main reason that we won tonight.”
DeRozan led the San Antonio Spurs with his 26 points while other players from Spurs’ side like Simmons had 21 points with 15 assists and 10 rebounds while JJ Reddick scored 19 points.
Up next, Spurs will play against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday while Philadelphia 76ers will start their four-game trip with a game against Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
