European Open; Zverev wins over Delbonis and makes it to the quarterfinals in Hamburg

Alexander Zverev, the 2nd seeded at the European Open in Hamburg defeated his 2nd round opponent Fredrico Delbonis to make it to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Zverev was down by 3-0 during the 2nd set when he made a rally to win over his Argentinean opponent by 6-4 and 7-6.

Delbonis was taking to take the match into a 3rd set but the German went on to defeat his opponent by winning the tiebreaker set.

This is the ATP 100 Tournament in Zverev’s hometown and he is playing in it for the first time since 2016 when he suffered defeat in the 1st round match.

He will face Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in the quarterfinals who earlier defeated the winner of the 2016’s event Martin Klizan by 6-7, 7-5 and 6-1.

In other matches of the day, 3rd seeded player Fabio Fognini went on to defeat Rudolf Molleker by 7-5, and 6-4.

The Italian player will now move into the quarterfinals as well where he will play against Spanish player Pablo Carreno Busta who won over the 7th seeded player Jan-Lennard Struff by 6-1 and 7-6.
