A former partner of the skater John Coughlin said on her Facebook post that that late skater, who killed himself, had sexually abused her for nearly 2 years.
The former partner of Coughlin, Bridget Namiotka, in reply to a post for the support of Coughlin wrote, “I am sorry but John actually hurt at least 10 other people which includes me as well. He has sexually abused me for nearly 2 years. nobody innocent hangs themselves.”
29 years old Bridget Namiotka was teamed with Coughlin, who at the time of his suicide was 33 years old, from the year 2004 to 2007. At that time Bridget Namiotka was in between ages of 14 to 17 years old while Coughlin himself was 18 to 21 years old.
As a team, both of them finished with winning 3 medals at the Junior Grand Prix series while finishing at 9th place for the 2007 U.S. national championships at the senior level.
After her first post, Namiotka added three more posts which are as follows.
“Someone who is innocent doesn’t hang himself. Think at least about the victims when you are all speaking about him. What he did to those 10 girls.”
“Think about all of these girls he had hurt over the years.”
“Grooming happens. It happened to me and he hurt a lot of girls. Think about the victims too.”
The two-time US Pairs Champion with 2 partners, Coughlin was found hanging at his father’s Kansas City house. His suicide occurred following the day he received the interim suspension from the U.S. Center for SafeSport. The suspension was handed to him citing about a person with the knowledge to the situation that had been reported back in January about the three reported sexual misconducts made against Coughlin.
SafeSport, after Coughlin’s suicide back in January, announced the news in February that all the investigations into reports against him have been ended effectively.
