The rematch between Juan Francisco Estrada and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai for the WBC Super-Flyweight title belt held in Los Angeles on Friday night was won by Francisco on majority points.
The Mexican earlier lost the fight for the title back in February on majority decision points. However, in this rematch, he controlled the fight expertly to fight at a range and in the fight by unanimous decision points of 116-112,115-113 and 15-113 from all 3 judges at The Forum venue.
The fight was started in a heated manner by Estrada as he landed a vicious left hook in the 1st to knock the balance off of Sor Rungvisai.
Estrada was trying to maintain control by fighting at a distance as he found the range to land right hands in the 2nd round but Sor Rungvisai also replied back with his right hook.
The 3rd round saw Estrada lading some accurate right straight punches and looks of concern started to show from Sor Rungvisai’s side as he endured a flurry of punches in the 4th round.
Estrada enjoyed the fight as he landed in multiple right straights in the 5th and also raised his bell in a triumphant manner during eh end of the round. 6th saw Sor Rungvisai having some success with his hooks.
However, Sor Rungvisai fell to the floor in the 7th but the referee ruled it out as a slip. 8th saw Estrada landing some counters. Sor Rungvisai tired to make a comeback as he switched to southpaw to land a telling hook in the 9th and also manage dot stop Estrada in the 10th with a crisp body shot.
Sor Rungvisai continued his assault in the 11th making Estrada staggered on the ropes. The 12th round saw both fighters frantically exchanging punches with each other.
